Impossible to dislike, Joseph Gordon-Levitt has blossomed from child star into one of the most compelling actors of his generation, able to swing effortlessly from a low-budget indie to a glossy summer blockbuster. Seriously, he's just amazing. There seems to be no genre or role he won€™t attempt, which has helped him avoid typecasting and left him able to constantly reinvent his screen image. It helps that he has genuine passion for his job, never sleepwalking through a role, no matter how lame the movie itself might be. He's also a writer and director in his own right, and in his spare time he runs a collaborative project called HitRecord, where he works with contributing artists to produce experimental short films and music videos. He€™s received acclaim for his ability to morph into any character, though his experiments haven't always worked out - sometimes his biggest gambles have also been his biggest failures, projects even he wasn€™t able to salvage. This week he reunites with his 50/50 co-star Seth Rogen for the bro-tastic comedy The Night Before, which gives us a good excuse to look back over some of his best work to date; and a few he€™s probably not as proud of.
