5. The Prologue Is Surprisingly Dull

For all of its strengths, the film doesn't open on the strongest note. Before Charlie Hunnam charms up the screen as the title character, there's a 15-minute prologue sequence which depicts the assassination of his father, Uther Pendragon (Eric Bana) at the hands of the vicious Vortigern (Jude Law), who then takes the throne for himself.

It's honestly just a bit of a damp squib, suffering from some of the movie's blandest, most exposition-laden dialogue and action that fleets between intermittently entertaining and weirdly boring.

Simple, it's not a great way to start the movie, and it possibly would've benefited from being pigeonholed throughout the film in flashback form instead.
