Kingsman: The Golden Circle is out in cinemas now, and it's fair to say that the general response to the film has been heavily polarised so far, with almost all critics deeming it a significant step down from Matthew Vaughn's electric original.
Still, the early box office projections are looking healthy, so Fox is no doubt already looking to press on with a third Kingsman film, pending the cast and writer-director Matthew Vaughn's availability.
For all of its issues, The Golden Circle does at least leave the door wide open for number three, sewing a number of seeds for the future as far as the characters and setting are concerned.
Vaughn needs to pay close attention to the audience and critical reception to his latest movie, though, because if Kingsman 3 follows in the same vein, it's likely going to end up even more self-indulgent and disappointing.
If it can harness Vaughn's strengths in the right direction, though, the third Kingsman could be a major return to form and maybe even end up the best of the trilogy...
