Lord Of The Rings: Every Death Ranked From Worst To Best

9. The Steward Of Gondor

Film: The Return of the King How he died: Combo of setting himself on fire and getting kicked by Shadowfax The Steward of Gondor suffered heartbreak and psychological trouble with the death of his son, Boromir, but when Faramir was also announced dead, he decided to end his life. In an attempt to burn Faramir's (still alive) body and then kill himself, he ordered his guards to grant him the wish of joining his sons in Heaven. Unfortunately Gandalf was too late and even though Shadowfax kicked him off the stake that he intended to burn himself on, he jumped from the top of Minas Tirith whilst on fire. He lost his way and being burned alive was bad enough, but did he really need to throw himself to his death too?
