New X-Men: Apocalypse Concept Art Reveals Cyclops, Jean Grey And Storm

The world's gone to hell.

As X-Men: Apocalypse's production quicksilvers along (that neologism doesn't quite work, but whatever), a new piece of concept art for Bryan Singer's epic movie has found its way online. Showing Cyclops (Tye Sheridan) clashing with Storm (Alexandra Shipp) as Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) takes cover under some bent metal, it's the first proper taste of what the film's action will entail. Of course, that these iconic heroes are fighting Avengers-style (falling out is pretty much a prerequisite for superhero teams these days) isn't really the most interesting thing on show here. That's right - Pepsi's heavily lucrative product placement deal that sees them sneak retro logos into the period X-Men films is back! Who's thirsty? OK, seriously though, look at that backdrop. This looks like the decimated 2023 from Days Of Future Past, even though Apocalypse is set in 1983 - the ground is strewn with rubble, Cyclops is stood on a flipped VW van and in the background giant pillars have risen out of the ground. Clearly Oscar Isaac's sub-titular first mutant is going to provide a threat on a scale that hasn't been seen on screen before (doesn't the Cuba Missile Crisis look quaint now?). Check out full image below to whet your appetite for X-Men: Apocalypse, which will be released on May 27th, 2016. Any speculation on the image? Throw it out down in the comments.
