Once Upon A Deadpool Review: 4 Ups & 5 Downs

4. It's Not Very Festive

Despite the marketing for Once Upon A Deadpool being decidedly Christmas-themed - and, you know, it releasing just two weeks before Christmas Day - the movie itself actually has virtually no Yuletide cheer or iconography to speak of.

Beyond a Santa Claus painting hanging on Fred Savage's wall, there's basically nothing to indicate the movie's been re-edited with a Christmas release in mind.

Would it have killed them to at least have Deadpool wear a Santa hat, or tie Fred Savage to his bed using tinsel?

The teaser trailer promised CGI snowflakes and faux-cheery narration from Deadpool himself, yet curiously little effort has been made to evoke the Christmas spirit, which is absolutely baffling.

With just a cursory amount of work, this new cut could've become an unexpected Christmas tradition, but the novel seasonal appeal is desperately lacking.
