Once Upon A Deadpool Review: 4 Ups & 5 Downs

3. The Alternate Takes Are A Mixed Bag

To be fair to the new cut, there is a lot of new footage incorporated into the film, largely consisting of alternate, unused takes and dialogue re-dubbed by Ryan Reynolds.

But the results are unquestionably mixed across the board, with most of the material clearly being compromised of scenes and exchanges that weren't funny enough to make the original theatrical release.

Though most of them muster at least a polite chuckle, it sometimes feels like new responses were included simply to try and push the "value" of this new version, even if they don't really add anything.

The split on quality new takes and so-so replacements is about 50:50, even if they do make it clear just how much material was shot and discarded from the theatrical cut.
