La La Land.
Mary Zophres, who was previously nominated in this category for her work on True Grit, should pick up her first Academy Award here. The costume work isn't quite as showy as in some of the other contenders, but it does stand out. The dresses are cute, the colours are vibrant and lend themselves perfectly to the overall aesthetic of the film, while Emma Stone's yellow dress makes for one of the most iconic images from all the nominees.
Who Will Win
La La Land.
Never count out Colleen Atwood, who has won the Oscar three times and is nominated again for her blend of magical and period work on Fantastic Beasts, while there's a costume changing frenzy in Jackie that could give Madeline Fontaine a push. But when it comes to it, the colour of La La Land - plus the fact it's a choice many voters will default to - should give it the win.
