1. Lady Bird Gets Totally Shut Out

For everything this year's show got right, it was a shock and a shame to see Greta Gerwig's Lady Bird get shut completely out of winning any awards at all, especially given its impossibly high 99% Rotten Tomatoes score and persistent status as a Best Picture frontrunner.

The movie ended up going home empty-handed, making it one of just two Best Picture nominees - the other being The Post - to not win a single Academy Award this year. It made total sense for the good-but-not-great The Post, but Lady Bird's near-universal acclaim should've at least scored it something.

In a year championing women, it's a shame the year's most female-centric offering was left wanting.
