Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage has joined X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer has revealed. As he promised, Singer continues to reveal his casting news on Twitter;
“Officially like to welcome #PeterDinklage from #GameOfThrones to #XMEN #DaysofFuturePast Very very excited!”
Dinklage’s role in the movie has yet to be revealed, however, it’s not like he’s going to be playing Cyclops or Colossus. Smart money would be on him playing Puck, a dwarf member of Canada’s mutant team, Alpha Flight. He has long been fan-favoured to play this character should he ever brought to the big screen… and that looks to have come to fruition.

Creator John Byrne had originally intended for the original Puck to be a dwarf with no superhuman powers, merely great fighting and acrobatic skills; subsequent writer Bill Mantlo would later retcon that Puck’s small stature was due to mystical influences.
Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter are running a cover story on Oscar nominated Les Miserables star Hugh Jackman who revealed that he was ready to take a short break from acting after reprising his X-Men character in The Wolverine (opening in July) but the couldn’t say no to X-Men: Days of Future Past;
“first heard about it around October or November [2012]. I was literally finishing ‘The Wolverine’ and dreaming about lasagna, and about three weeks before the end, they told me.”
The role won’t be a cameo and is one of the leading parts…
“There was no way I was not going to be part of that.”
Jackman said he has not seen Simon Kinberg’s finished screenplay but has read an eight page synopsis.
Based on Chris Claremont and John Bryne’s classic alternative storyline of the same name, X-Men: Days of Future Past will merge together characters from the original X-Men trilogy and the 2011 prequel X-Men: First Class and is officially the seventh film in the franchise.
The film will primarily be set in 1973, ten years after the events of X-Men: First Class which ended with the culmination of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Though part of the film will be set sometime after the events of X-Men 3: The Last Stand.
James McAvoy (Prof. X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique) and Nicholas Hoult (Beast) are confirmed from the First Class crew, with Patrick Stewart (Prof. X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Anna Paquin (Rogue), Ellen Page (Kitty Pryde) and Shawn Ashmore (Iceman) from the original trilogy officially on board.
More actors from both X-Men eras should be announced as returning soon. Singer answered direct questions from MTV about a few, first saying that unlike what we all presumed (though I still suspect in reality this is the big stickling point) Halle Berry has not yet signed on to return NOT because of her appearance fee, but because Singer hasn’t decided if it makes sense to include her;
I can’t say. I don’t know yet. And it’s not necessarily a deal making aspect at all. I want to make sure it’ll make sense. But I love working with her.
He then said the same thing about Alan Cumming potentially reprising the character of Nightcrawler from X-Men 2 to The Huffington Post;
I don’t know. We’ll see. You know … we’ll see… sometimes you don’t want to say “yes” or “no” to something that may not be a “yes” or a “no,” or anything. I haven’t decided yet, a few things. I’m still, you know… there are certain aspects of the script that I’m still toying with.
The Hollywood Reporter say X-Men: Days of Future Past will begin filming in mid-April in Montreal.

Has this been confirmed or just an educated guess?
I had been assuming the ‘future’ sections would take place in an alternative timeline from both ‘First Class’ and the Original Triolgy.
This would account for continuity issues and the events in DOFP could then unite the different timelines into a ‘current’ strand which the next X-Men film would take place…
Yeah good point Monk. It’s not been confirmed but was an assumption… though I’d find it really difficult for them to tell this story without showing events after X-Men 3.
I think you have more faith in Fox caring about the continuity errors than I do… though if anyone will try and tell a tale that fixes these errors, it would be Bryan Singer.
I think an alternative timeline is the way forward, branching off from a certain event in DOFP. This would mean the dystopian future with Sentinels and camps can be one timeline, and the Original Triology can be another timeline.
This could account for how Patrick Stewart is back dispite what happened to him in ‘The Last Stand’…
My thoughts/hopes are that at the end of DOFP we could have a kind of ultimate collection of X-Men; some from the ‘First Class Timeline’ and some from the ‘Original Trilogy Timeline’, all going forward together in a ‘Third Timeline’, into the third film (set in the 1980′s) without having to worry about what has happened in the already released films…
Glad Peter Dinklage will be in it as hes brilliant in Game of thrones. Id like to see NightCrawler back in Xmen, if Halle Berry wants too much, Id leave her out, you might be able to include two more xmen in place of her.
