Quentin Tarantino: Definitive Guide To Homages, Influences And References

Pulp Fiction

3. The Dimmick Brothers

Tarantino also continued another Reservoir Dogs bloodline in Pulp Ficion: Larry Dimmick - Mr. White's real name - makes him a possible relative of Pulp Fiction's Jimmie Dimmick, Jules Winfield's partner who "lives out in Talooga Lake" as played by Quentin Tarantino.

2. Be The Fonz

When Jules pulls his gun on Ringo and Yolanda during the film's climactic diner sequence, he tells them to be cool, and asks that they all act like "three little Fonzies." This, of course, is a reference to Happy Days and the iconic character that Henry Wrinkler played, Arthur "The Fonz" Fonzie, who remains semi-ironic epitome of "cool culture" even today. Later on in the scene, Jules yells "Correctamundo," one of Fonzie's most famous catchphrases.

1. Kung Fu

When discussing what he plans to do once he retires as a gangster, Jules speculates that he'll just walk the earth, "like Cain from Kung Fu." Kung Fu was a popular 70s TV show which starred David Carradine as a drifter who met people and got in adventures. David Carradine would later star as Bill in Tarantino's Kill Bill.
