Ranking Every Magnificent Seven Character From Worst To Best
7. Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard)
Though Peter Sarsgaard has a surprisingly small amount of screen time overall (disappearing for almost the entire middle-portion of the movie), he makes his minutes count as the vicious land baron terrorising Rose Creek.
To Sarsgaard's eternal credit, he knows that a villain in a movie with a distinct throwback feel will almost always benefit from a little hammy acting, considering how relatively underwritten the actual character is.
More than anything, he does a solid job depicting the savagery of Bogue, making the audience deeply anticipate his inevitable demise, which satisfyingly comes at the hands of Emma (Haley Bennett) rather than any of the seven.
Not the most alluring villain by any means, but Sarsgaard does about as well as anyone could with a character who pales in comparison to most of the titular group.
