Ranking January 2018's Movies From Worst To Best

A surprisingly decent January.

January is typically a grim time for new movie releases - excluding those award season stragglers, of course - with studios generally dumping their less-demanding films upon audiences and just hoping for the best.

Ironic it is, then, that only one true dud actually landed in cinemas this past month, while January's two worst-reviewed films actually went straight to Netflix.

In terms of theatrical releases, January was surprisingly not-terrible, with a number of expectedly awful films garnering mixed-positive reviews, while the usual awards hopefuls generally posted strong showings.

Honestly, this might be the most impressive January on record in quite some time, and proves that Hollywood doesn't need to make it a landfill for cinematic tosh. Netflix might want to slow their roll a little, though, because their 2018 didn't exactly get off to the best start.

As for what February holds? Get ready for Fifty Shades Darker, Clint Eastwood's new film The 15:17 to Paris, Black freaking Panther, Duncan Jones' new sci-fi Mute and many more...
