The new Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer has arrived, bringing with it Avengers: Endgame spoilers galore, but also a big new twist for the MCU, with the full introduction of the multiverse.

The idea of there being multiple universes isn't completely new to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and indeed it's something loosely touched upon in Endgame itself. There, however, it's mostly as a concept - presented to us by the Ancient One - as the Avengers go back in time. Far From Home, on the other hand, makes it a much more tangible thing.

As we hear Nick Fury explain in the trailer, Thanos' snap tore a hole in the universe, opening the gateway to a bunch of other dimensions. That's ostensibly where Mysterio has come from, and although there's a good chance he is actually lying, the existence of the multiverse itself is true.

Far From Home is rounding out Phase 3, and yet the Infinity Saga that defines Phases 1-3 is already over. That means it's not just wrapping it up, but also helping setup the future of the MCU - and the multiverse could have a big part to play in that, because it's potentially a serious game-changer in number of different ways...
