Star Wars: 5 Ways The Jedi Dropped The Ball In The Prequels

5. The Jedi Let Count Dooku Escape With The Plans For The Death Star In Attack Of The Clones

GWdisk4 The death of Count Dooku in Revenge of the Sith is an afterthought, and it certainly is not a huge deal or any kind of conclusion. Instead, it serves to set up another pointless hour of nothingness. Yes. It looks cool, but there is no real point to it. It bookends a major failure of the Jedi from Episode II. This is the failure to stop the Dooku threat when they had a very good opportunity to do so. The Clones Wars began at the Battle of Geonosis. This conflict raged for around three years, give or take, from 22 BBY-19 BBY. All of this could have been stopped if the horde of Jedi that arrived to save Anakin and company had banded together to stop Dooku on Geonosis. Better yet, have him arrested him for being a terrorist after the attempted assassination. I know. He was being played by Darth Sidious. However, when your job is to police these matters, then you should do it. Dropping the ball on this one led to a long and bloody war, one that directly resulted in the creation of the Death Star. Billions would later die due to this error.
