Star Wars: 5 Ways The Jedi Dropped The Ball In The Prequels

4. The Inept Jedi Council Of The Phantom Menace

council It wasn't only Attack of the Clones in which the Jedi were acting like total fools. In the Phantom Menace, after a series of events including an assassination attempt on the lives of two Jedi, the imprisonment of a Queen, a blockage of an entire Planet and an encounter with a Sith.... um... what? The sith are a group meant to be extinct. This should be a major concern of the Jedi, and requires prompt action. The "wise" Jedi Council send two - that's right, two - Jedi to undercover the mystery of the Sith, and then save Naboo as a side mission. What not send more? They are a huge organisation with vast resources. This apparently is a colossal issue, and yet they send two guys. Pure nonsense. They were not done with the brainfarts for one film. The Council's decision to train Anakin was the cherry on top. After addressing all the reasons not to earlier in the film, Yoda still allows it at the film's coda. Not very wise, Master Yoda.
