Star Wars Episode 7: 5 Reasons It Could Be Awesome and 5 Reasons It Could Suck

4. Disney

Hearing that Disney acquired Star Wars immediately springs to mind many visions, one of which is the further de-evolution and kidification of the Star Wars brand. Such a vision is understandable, as Disney is most often associated with family friendly entertainment and theme parks. However, when you really stop and consider how Disney operates its other companies, the visions stop being quite so apocalyptic. Consider how Disney treats Pixar and Marvel. Both companies may be owned by Disney, but they are both allowed enough autonomy to remain true to themselves and deliver worthy content. The Marvel superhero films are consistently decent, and The Avengers turned out to be the best one, both critically and financially. Pixar rarely puts out a bad film, and even creates sequels considered by many to be better than the previous films. Is the possibility of Disney further ruining Star Wars still present? Of course, it would be regardless of which company Lucas sold it too. What makes Disney a more comfortable fit is that it has shown that it cares about keeping the brand true to its heart, whether it is superheroes or animated films. Hopefully this philosophy will transition over to Star Wars as well.
