Episode IX won't have too many of the original heroes in it, but it will continue the stories of most of the key new players of this trilogy. Snoke may have fallen in The Last Jedi, but Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) are all coming back.

This final chapter is likely to bring their conflicts to a resolution, presumably with climactic showdowns between the Resistance and First Order, and Rey and Kylo, but it won't necessarily be the end. Speaking last year, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy told The Star Wars Show:

"We're sitting down now, we're talking about the next 10 years of Star Wars stories, and we're looking at, narratively, where that might go. Future stories beyond Episode IX with these new characters: Rey, Poe, Finn, BB-8..."

That's perhaps not the biggest surprise, but it does mean we should certainly be seeing more of these characters, and that at least some of them will survive beyond the credits of Episode IX (she doesn't, however, mention Kylo Ren). So Star Wars Episode X in 2027 (which, y'know, just so happens to be the saga's 50th anniversary) then, yeah?
