Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 11 Major Plot Clues From The Final Trailer

3. Kylo Ren's Following In Darth Vader's Footsteps

The single most compelling theory on all of The Force Awakens is that Kylo Ren learns about the power of Sith and Jedi Artefacts and seeks them out to Awaken the Force himself (rather than a Jedi doing it). That would fit in both with his acquisition of Darth Vader's helmet (poor Ewoks never stood a chance) and the suggestion that he also comes into possession of Luke Skywalker's second lightsaber. If, as rumoured, Ren's agenda is to Awaken the Force and turn as many Force sensitive people to the Dark Side (having used the artefacts to detect or "awaken" them by stimulating something dormant), it would fit in perfectly with Ren saying "I will finish what you started" - presumably to Darth Vader. As an instrument of Darth Sidious, Vader's agenda was to return the Sith to power and eradicate Jedi, so a good deal of the plot should presumably focus on his attempts to remove the remaining Jedi and their kids, which spells disaster for Luke, Leia and probably Rey is she is indeed Leia and Hans' daughter.
