Star Wars turned 40 this week, and while there was the celebration of the past you would expect, a lot of the focus remains squarely locked on the future. With Episode VIII coming out at the end of the year, and numerous films planned beyond that, Lucasfilm are making sure to stay on target.

We could well have new Star Wars films coming out in 40 years time, such is the strength of the franchise, but right now the immediate concern is The Last Jedi. The follow-up to the saga-reviving The Force Awakens, it's set to take things into new territory, but, in typical fashion, we don't know an awful lot about it.

We had some reveals at Star Wars Celebration, and of course the first teaser trailer, but director Rian Johnson et al have mostly been keeping quiet... until now. As they did with The Force Awakens, Vanity Fair have done a big cover story on the upcoming Star Wars film, and while there are still secrets being kept, they have - through a number of articles, the wonderful photography of Annie Leibovitz, and a great Reddit AMA with writer David Kamp - unveiled plenty of new details about the most hyped movie of the year.
