We've known for some time now that there were three big new additions to the cast for The Last Jedi: Kelly Marie Tran, Benicio del Toro, and Laura Dern.

Tran's character, Rose, was revealed at Star Wars Celebration, along with the information that she works in maintenance for the Resistance, and has the biggest role of the newbies as she goes on a mission with Finn. We got a few more details here though, learning the character's surname - Tico - and the fact she has a sister (Paige, played by Veronica Ngo) also in the Resistance, who has a scene with Poe Dameron. We also learn that she and Finn will be going to Canto Bight, the new casino planet.

Laura Dern will also be in the Resistance, although - as her appearance may suggest - much higher up. She goes by the name Vice Admiral Holdo, and is definitely human. According to Lucasfilm story chief Pablo Hidalgo, her exuberant hair has something to do with her "cultural background".

For del Toro, we didn't even get a proper name - and apparently it's never actually revealed during the movie. He's referred to on-set as DJ, for reasons that will apparently become clear in the movie, and is a "shady" character whose alleigances are unknown. That fits with del Toro's various comments about him not quite being a villain. The actor also revealed he took inspiration for the character from Tom Waits.
