Star Wars: The Last Jedi - 23 WTF Moments

22. A Hologram Has Force Powers?

Star Wars The Last Jedi Supreme Leader Snoke General Hux

When we first meet Snoke again, he appears in hologram form to berate General Hux for losing the opening battle and overseeing the destruction of the First Order's invaluable Dreadnought. It's not unexpected, as this is all we've known to this point, and the reveal that he's not all that imposing doesn't come for a little while.

What is confusing about the scene though is that Snoke seems able to use his Force powers on Hux even when he's in hologram form. Just as it did when Vader choked Admiral Ozzel to death in The Empire Strikes Back, this complicates matters and muddies the waters of Force power boundaries.

Does this mean he could use physical Force powers (like Force choke or Force push) while simply Facetiming someone? Doesn't allowing Force-users to wield their powers remotely just make them look like idiots for not simply appearing by hologram to their enemies and killing them from miles away?
