Tarantino Unchained: His 5 Most Bizarre Meltdowns

timthumb Creative types kind of get a free pass when it comes to crazy. We're not just talking about the actors (though they definitely do), but novelists, artists and movie directors, especially, are universally high-fived for their willingness to go berserk and act insane if they're not hurting anybody else. "He's a genius, so who cares?" somebody might say, and as far as the general consensus will have it, that's absolutely right. Which got us thinking: despite making some of the coolest films of all-time, Quentin Tarantino isn't very... well, cool. I mean, the stuff he writes and the films he makes are extremely cool, and his encyclopedic knowledge of cinema is definitely impressive, but - generally speaking - the man is just a bit of an oddball. And his recent outburst on Channel 4's news program over a question about gun violence showed somebody at the end of their tether and presumably tired with doing months of press and responding to the same irritating questions over and over again. Whether Tarantino was right or wrong to explode is debatable: what's true is that the director has had a few bizarre meltdowns over the course of his career, and has garnered a reputation as an eccentric as a result. I mean, yes, he's always been an eccentric, but a kind of goofy, innocent, former-video store clerk eccentric - not a wild nut who gets angry at a news reporter for asking a question. Join us, then, as we take a look at the most bizarre Quentin Tarantino meltdowns and decide whether or not the otherwise talented writer/director had reason to go insane.
