Tarantino Unchained: His 5 Most Bizarre Meltdowns

5. Grammys

grammy-awards-109779The Meltdown: We'll kick things off with what can only be referred to as a "semi-meltdown," purely because Tarantino isn't angry at anyone here: instead he's just gone completely insane for no apparent reason. The venue for this bout of wacky behavior is the 2010 Grammys, where the director's job was to present a Lifetime Achievement Award to a man named Clark Terry for his contributions to jazz. Tarantino has a funny habit of talking in this really bizarre voice when he's presenting stuff or talking in interviews, kind of like he's doing an impression of an American accent in an American accent. It's horrible. As he gets further and further into his speech, he decides to increase the intensity of this voice, perhaps mis-reading the crowd's cheers as encouraging his enthusiasm, or perhaps because his brain was broken on that day. As Clark Terry sits in a stupor looking adorable, Tarantino ups the ante even further as he introduces the next musical guests (Eminem, Lil' Wayne & Drake), throwing his hand around like a gun and doing his best impression of a $50 DJ. This isn't a meltdown in the traditional sense, but it is completely bizarre, which means that you absolutely have to watch it. What Is Justified? Whatever Tarantino smoked on the night of the Grammys somehow manifested itself in the form of a really nutty speech, but it's neither justified nor unjustified because it's bonkers. And that's what really matters, right?
