The Dark Knight Rises: 10 Mysteries The Film Must Answer

2. What Ever Did Happen to The Joker?

If you€™ve ever had any exposure to Batman before Nolan€™s series €“ which I€™m fairly certain that you have €“ then you€™ll know the the Dark Knight and the Joker are like two sides of the same anti-social coin. After the tragic loss of Heath Ledger, it€™s hard imagine another actor filling his clown shoes and Nolan seems to know this and so we won€™t be surprised if there€™s no more mention of the Clown Prince of Crime. We've lost Heath Ledger (a blow to cinema to say the least) but the Joker isn't dead right? And his entire existence is messing with the Batman so if we're talking about main canon characterization you have to imagine he's probably planning something wicked. Presumably though, he€™s in Arkham Asylum, which in Nolan€™s hyper-realistic Batman world is probably quite secure, and will never be seen again. Chris Nolan has previously suggested that The Joker is not mentioned at all in his final chapter but we also are fully aware that Nolan can be a deceptive one. Let's hope he gives The Clown Prince just a little nod. We€™d just love to get a little closure is all€
