The Dark Knight Rises: 10 Reasons Why Catwoman MUST Get Spin-Off Film

catwoman-main Let's be honest - The Dark Knight Rises was a great film wasn't it? Quibbles and flaws and the odd mistake aside, it's a great piece of cinematic and visual storytelling, walking the thin line between gritty and escapist and making a deserved smash as one of 2012's best summer blockbusters. The shining highlight of the film for me was the new introduction of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle into the mythos - her take on Catwoman was a shifting, deliberately chameleon-esque delight where the real Selina stayed hidden, protected by her snark, her wit and her Rosa Klebb-esque blade high heels (good merchandising opportunity there!). Both Hathaway and Dark Knight trilogy director Christopher Nolan have expressed interest and enthusiasm for a solo Catwoman movie - and I'm gonna talk about a few of the reasons why there simply has to be a Catwoman movie with them at the helm...

10. Could Be First Female Superhero Movie of the 21st Century

catwoman-female21stcentury It's true - in the 21st century, there hasn't be a truly solid female-led superhero movie. The Avengers came very close with Black Widow being the arguable centre of the film, but whe it came to arcs and billing, Scarlett Johansson was still sidelined to some extent ahead of the boys. Catwoman herself hasn€™t had a decent arc since the days of Michelle Pfeiffer (up until Hathaway€™s tenure). It would be something truly wonderful to see - a superheroine striking out on her own terms and saving the world equally on those terms. Particularly if she's not a wholly altruistic and benevolent figure like some of the female heroes out there - if she chooses to be a hero, then why? And what lines is she willing to cross in order to do so?
