The Last Sharknado: It's About Time - 15 WTF Moments

It's finally over.

Some five years after the original Sharknado premiered on SyFy and became a surprise social media phenomenon, the sixth and apparently final entry in the series has made its dubiously awaited TV debut.

Aptly - and hilariously - titled The Last Sharknado: It's About Time, this franchise-capping instalment may find the series at its most creatively bankrupt, but even that didn't prevent it from nevertheless serving up bats*** insanity in spades.

While much of the ridiculousness feels positively ordinary six movies in, there were still enough ridiculous cameos, loony action sequences and absurd time travel nonsense to make it worthwhile for franchise fans.

The series feels like it's done pretty much everything it can at this point in a quest to entertain, amuse and confuse, and this is nothing if not an aptly incoherent final chapter.

If you want to spare yourself 85 minutes, though, here's a whistle-stop tour through the movie's most gloriously WTF moments...

15. A Mega Shark Eats A Giant Dinosaur

The film opens with series protagonist Fin (Ian Ziering) travelling back in time with his son, comically named Gil (and played by Dolph Lundgren in the last movie), to the age of the dinosaurs.

When he gets there, though, Gil is mysteriously absent and he's quickly attacked by a fleet of dinos, including a giant T-Rex.

Just as Fin prepares to battle the creature, however, a giant shark - presumably a Megalodon? - leaps out of the sea below, takes a bite out of the T-Rex and drags it into the ocean.

It's barely three minutes into the movie, and we already have two poorly-rendered prehistoric monsters battling one another while Fin looks on in disbelief. It's Sharknado alright, and that's just the beginning.
