X-Men Days Of Future Past: 9 Villains We'd Love To See

The cast for X-Men: Days of Future Past is really starting to take shape; after it was announced recently that several series veterans from Bryan Singer territory would be returning for his latest take, we discovered over the weekend that Peter Dinklage - that's Tyrion Lannister from Game of Thrones - will apparently be playing an unspecified villain in the film. Of course, Dinklage being a dwarf would at first glance limit his potential to play various classic bad guys, but remember, with the advent of performance-capture and visual effects, his short stature is no longer a limitation. What's needed is a villain who can be linked to the Sentinels in a way that will keep comic book fans happy, ensuring that one of the X-Men's most popular arcs is brought to the screen in arresting manner. Indeed, to the disappointment of everyone hoping Dinklage would play half-pint superhero Puck, that appears not to be the case. Nevertheless, here are 10 villains we'd love to see him play...

9. Mister Sinister

Though Mister Sinister is a classic villain of X-Men lore, he ranks at the very top of this list because his character traits have already largely been seen in this franchise by way of Kevin Bacon's superb portrayal of Sebastian Shaw in X-Men: First Class. To retread these ideas would be very misguided, so though it's not likely Singer would actually go this way, it would still be a lot of fun to see Dinklage playing the troubled geneticist. Initially a scientist in Victorian England, Sinister eventually came to want to create the ultimate mutant using Cyclops and Jean Grey's DNA, and given that just about everyone wants to see Grey make an appearance in the film, this could be an interesting way to facilitate that. His shape-shifting manner would make it far easier for Dinklage to play (or at least voice) the role, and given Sinister's history with Apocalypse - he initially served him before becoming his villain - his inclusion could be a convenient way to build-up Apoc for the third film.
