The Green Hill Zone boasts such an immaculate level design that it's something developers still aspire to nowadays, though resolutely fail to live up to. There's no denying it's one of the most famous levels in video game history; even those who've never played Sonic or, indeed, a video game, are likely to recognise it, and of course, who can forget the amazing score? It's a great way to break players into the mechanics of Sonic; we get to speed our way through most of the level, occasionally braking to avoid spikes, blocks or enemies.
