10 Best World War 2 Video Games Of All time
9. Medal Of Honor: Airborne
Medal of Honor: Airborne was a classic case of having the right game at the wrong time. Back in 2008, nobody wanted to play World War 2 shooters anymore, as the market had been oversaturated to the point of exhaustion. Consequently, despite Airborne delivering a solid spin on the sub-genre that separated it from other entries in the franchise, nobody was willing to give it a chance.
That's a huge shame though, as the sequel wasn't only one of the better instalments in the series, but was a great shooter in its own right. Shipping with an interesting gimmick - every single mission started with you parachuting into the map and figuring your own way from there - the more open design made for a solid WW2 experience.
Instead of being funnelled down tight corridors and following someone's backside, the game instead attempted to capture the (often chaotic) freedom of the Airborne Division. Its narrative wasn't really anything to write home about, but the dexterity of its first-person shooting certainly was.
