10 Brilliant Playstation One Games We Are Still Playing

The Playstation One, or PSX as I will dub it in this article, completely revolutionised gaming when it was released in September 1995. It sold 100 million units and battered the N64 and the Sega Saturn into submission, ending Nintendo's domination of the video game market and doing all but stick a knife in Sega's back and killing it. The PSX was the first console to be marketed to over 15s, because Sony felt Nintendo had the youth market sewn up. What Sony had for the PSX was an impressive catalogue of games to appeal to every type of gamer - from Gran Turismo for the car racing fans, Command and Conquer: Red Alert for the strategy fans and Crash Bandicoot for the platform players and so much more. The variety of games for the PSX was plentiful and classy. And classics were born on the PSX such as Resident Evil - the first instalment of the wildly popular franchise. Okay, it looks clunky and the poor quality of the voice acting is legendary, but Resident Evil remains a darn good and frightening play (far better than its remake on Nintendo). There are several classics on the PSX that we are still playing today because they are simply awesome games. Not every computer game needs ultra realistic graphics to be enjoyable, some are just simply pieces of pure genius that will last for the ages. Below are ten PSX games we are still playing. Add your own favourite PSX games below.
