10. Bust A Move 2: Arcade Edition
Otherwise known as Puzzle Bobble Two, the sequel to Puzzle Bobble, Bust a Move 2 is the most addictive puzzle game that was released on the PSX. It never gets old, it never gets boring and if you get a group of friends together with a few beers, there is great craic to be had. Basically you can play alone or with another person. The object of the game is to shoot coloured bubbles into a cluster which makes your balls drop and go onto the other person's screen, vexing them mightily. The winner is the first person to clear their screen of bubbles or else you win when your opponent's bubbles crush them. There are a lot of possibilities in the game - you can play against a bizarre string of characters that the computer generates including a light bulb, you can do time trials, you can play alphabet mode where you can choose different routes for different endings. When winning against an opponent, it is common for them to chuck their controller at you and scream "I hate you!". It is ideally played after a few drinks, but not so many that your hand-eye coordination goes down the swanny. A genius game in that non gamers will love it too - it isn't hard to pick up how to play it, Some of my best gaming moments have involved Bust a Move 2 and I still regularly play it with gleeful abandon.
