9. Male Bonding (IX)
Final Fantasy IX is a favourite of many fans of the series, and for good reason - its plot is solid and its cast are stellar, whilst it neglects to take itself as seriously as Final Fantasies VII and VIII did and instead chooses to embrace its 'fantasy' aspect, meaning that several ridiculous elements of the game do not feel out of place as a result. There are some awkward scenes, however, one of which sees male lead Zidane and black mage Vivi (who is portrayed as a child) standing underneath the stars of the night sky and engaging in a 'male bonding' ritual. This sees them standing motionless whilst numerous instances of the word 'tinkle' appear in their dialogue boxes. Though the two are merely urinating together (which is bizarre enough), the fact that one of Zidane's lines in the scene is 'doesn't it feel nice to let yourself go under the stars?' meant that it was interpreted in a different manner by many... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ts4dOW6zuzM
