10 Frustrating Video Game Boss Battles You Forgot You Hated

6. Shao Kahn And Goro - Mortal Kombat 9

Mortal Kombat 9 2011 Shao Kahn
NetherRealm

You know you've been played like a fiddle when developers NetherRealm themselves admit they coded the Kahn character to be insanely annoying and - dare you whisper it - cheap.

For those that haven't tangoed with either Kahn or Goro, know that they'll force you to devolve into a state of 'breaking' the game to beat them - spamming moves that'll lock them in animations so you can finish them off or hammering the buttons to launch projectiles that make sure they stay across the screen. It's a lesson in how we all used to play video games, and for better or worse it makes the fights incredibly memorable.

That rush of finally surmounting something that was handing you your teeth beforehand is quintessentially why people put up with how harsh a taskmaster the Dark Souls series is, and lord knows if you manage to work out a combo of attacks for your character of choice that can get through and do some damage, it's a feeling of celebration like no other.
