10 Insane Gaming Conspiracy Theories

9. Animal Crossing: Purgatory

261308-animal_crossing_screen Popular game Animal Crossing could be described by some as purgatory, a monotonous game filled with cute characters seemingly aimed at children. However, one game theory (and a lot of off-shoots off of this theory) suggest that the setting of the game is literally, purgatory where you cannot leave, and stuck in a gap between heaven and hell. The story and theory starts with the initial point in the game, where you arrive at the new location of "camp", via a bus with no other passengers. In the actual story of the game, you are welcomed into the new society, given a place to stay and introduced to many important characters in the new place you live. The theory, however, states that you meet Tom Nook, who sets you up with a room, with no toilet, or bed, just a radio that barely work, and tells you that you'll need to pay back his loan, which you never agreed upon. Soon you find yourself constantly trying to work to try and keep your head above water. What's more, is that you can never seem to leave, and any attempt to do so will have the guards reminding you that you have a job to do. Essentially, you are trapped in this small city and can't leave. So you are stuck in this hellish place, where all the characters seem to have a fetish for dressing up as animals, and are more then happy to see you live out the rest of your time as a slave, constantly running little errands to pay off the loan and some of the incredulous things you have to pay off, such as land tax for a property that was supposedly "given" to you by Tom Nook.
