9. Custer (Custer's Revenge)
The classic Atari 2600 library surprisingly contains some of the most controversial games and characters. The most notorious was Custer from Custer's Revenge. This early rape sim cast players as a hideous 8-bit rendered naked man with the world's biggest boner who must dodge arrows to reach a helpless Native American female tied to the pole. If successful, the man's erect sword enters the woman and his 8-bit rendered body gyrates like it's about to fall apart. It's a scene that is in no way erotic. Rather, it's highly disturbing and enraged Native Americans and women protectionists alike. Despite his awful appearance and appeal though, the rapist Custer became popular among gamers. What's more, this wasn't the last time we saw him in action as he made a return in a 2008 reboot of the same name, but with more cartoonish visuals. We just can't get enough of this controversial game character.
