7. The Cards Make Kids Go Insane
Of course I don't mean that in a literal sense. They're just cards after all. What I mean is there are some reports in Japan of people being mugged for their Pokémon cards. Some kids have offered to sell their
own siblings to get the cards they want and it's news just like this that will send families into uproar when they find their kids coming home with Pokémon cards. Jeez, maybe I did mean it literally. Not to mention that fact that if the cards get into the schools, that could potentially open up a new wave of bullying. It's only a matter of time before it becomes the latest fad that gets banned from schools, which brings up an overlooked aspect of fandom in general. Everything comes in cycles. Massive popularity followed by being overshadowed by something else. Can Pokémon really last for years? Do the kids even play the game that the cards are connected to? Over in Japan the majority of people appear to simply collect them for collecting's sake and don't play the game that the entire card has been designed for. Doesn't that seem a little silly to you?
