This was a massive shame, given how much potential and promise the Beta versions of the game offered when they were tested by the public mere weeks previously.

Since its release, scores of players have flocked in line to criticise EA's reimagining of the popular 2004/05 series thanks to a lack of single player campaign and the premium price tag that was slapped on its DLC season pass. Battlefront has become somewhat of a scorned, bastard child among the galaxy of Star Wars games, but what if I told you it had been judged way, way too harshly?

In fact, what if I tried to tell you that there's enough in EA's Star Wars Battlefront to have it considered the best Star Wars game ever? You'd probably be outraged, of course, but hear me out. With nine months worth of evidence to call upon, you may just find that you were wrong to have judged the game so harshly in the first place.

10. It Has The Most Faithful Sound And Effects From The Movies

For any game based on a movie or TV series, the challenge of creating something that's faithful to the source material is always one of the first for the developers to have to overcome. For Battlefront, this was something that the folks at EA and DICE carried at the forefront of their minds as they worked on creating an authentic Star Wars experience.

And in terms of the sound and effects of battle, they certainly succeeded. In pre-release blogs and promos, much was made of the fact that the sound team at DICE had exclusive access to original sounds and stems from the films. During visits to Skywalker Ranch the developers were able to work on implementing these into the game in their purest form and recreating them faithfully from scratch.

This may sound like a small benefit, but in truth it's the subtle nuances between original effects and recreated imitations that make the biggest differences in the game. Everything from the unique pings of the various blasters through to the iconic roar of a sweeping Tie Fighter is implemented to perfection.

In essence, no game has ever sounded as much like a Star Wars movie as Battlefront, and it's simply a joy to experience the action in this way.
