10 Reasons Star Wars Battlefront Is The Best Star Wars Game Ever
9. Trimmed RPG Style Progression Is Perfect For An Action Game
Compared to a classic like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, the limited progression and customisation options of Battlefront can seem considerably simple. When players got their hands on the character optimisation options in the Battlefront Betas, some were expecting that the full game would feature something much more detailed than it eventually did.
This basic, linear progression came in for an element of criticism at release as well, but in truth there's no way that that should've been the case. Star Wars Battlefront is an action game, and so the more simplistic the customisation can be, the better. Trying to implement something similar to KOTOR, or the likes of Mass Effect 2, would've seen the game over-encumbered by competing ideals.
On top of this, the fact that you're not actually playing as a singular hero makes Battlefront's card-based customisation even more viable. The progression is based on carrying better gear, so it's incidental enough to justify the fact that your avatar may be killed twenty-odd times in a large battle. Battlefront's customisation options were absolutely perfect to help keep the pace up and to stay in-keeping with the essentially expendable nature of your soldiers.
