Ever been going off on one of those rants with a few game-loving friends, and you throw out 'that' opinion you know is going to get a reaction? It's something you fully believe, and sure you have your reasons, but admitting it in front of your otherwise relatively-sane friends is tantamount to saying you like a new Nickelback song.

Gamers have always been an incredibly passionate bunch - and why shouldn't we be? There's a huge amount of titles out there for mass consumption, so it seems only natural that some are going to butt heads on varying levels on a daily basis.

Most of the time it's easier to just stay quiet, but where's the fun in that? I say nay to that idea of keeping schtum when it comes to something you passionately love, vehemently despise or anything in between, because after all; when was the last time you came across a lover of film who didn't have a few thousand controversial opinions bursting from every pore?

If you're anywhere near considering yourself a gamer then you have these sorts of opinions too (we all do), so please, if you haven't taken to throwing a shoe at the screen in protest by list's end, let the controversy flow in the comments below.

10. Crash Team Racing Is Better Than Mario Kart

Obviously there's no way CTR would even exist if not for Nintendo's genre-inventing 1992 kart 'em up, but as with nearly every pioneering creative property, it's very rare that the original franchise manages to remain reigning champion forever, and it's here that Naughty Dog's first racer blew MK out of the asphalt.

First up, the speed of gameplay. Sure the MK franchise, and Nintendo's main flag-fliers overall can be seen as being more kiddy-friendly than most, hence the apparent need to make the game imminently accessible to all ages. However even with the two latest editions of MK 7 and 8 - on 3DS and Wii U respectively - they're still incredibly slow even on the highest 150cc difficulty, whereas when you mastered CTR's learning curve you'd be blitzing around the tracks at light-speed, knowing each turn, peak and trough like the back of your hand as the whole thing whizzed past in a stupidly enjoyable blur.

Which leads to the power-ups; again CTR takes a whole chunk of pages from the book of MK, but they're just so much more fun to deploy, along with the fact that in the latter chances are you're only seconds away from being inked, lightning bolt'd or blue shell'd, all of which stop your kart dead and completely ruin the feel of a race.

CTR gives you a three-boost system for each powerslide, so even if you'd just been tagged by a rocket or warp-portal, you needed only dive straight back into an impromptu skid to get going again.
