10 Upcoming Gaming Sequels (We Really Don't Need)

Is there really enough new content to justify throwing down £40-50 for another pop?

Just like in the movie world, sequels keep the video game industry spinning, because why bother coming up with a bold, risky new IP when developers can just rehash and glam-up a tried and tested formula, right? The highest-selling titles of each gaming year are usually sequels, and whether they're annualised or not, they're often completely unnecessary, but simply an attempt to quickly part gamers with their hard-earned cash. Granted, some entries on this list haven't seen a proper sequel in quite some time, but that doesn't exactly mean we need or want yet another entry. The story-line may have been finished in the last game, or perhaps there's just not enough new content to justify throwing down £40-50 for another pop, but these games all have one thing in common: we really don't need them. Some games will no doubt get lucky and be a pleasant surprise, but for the most part, these titles are likely to just coast along, taking in business as usual and just ticking over until it's time for the next entry. Did we miss any totally unnecessary upcoming video game sequels? Or do you disagree with any of our assessments? Let us know in the comments!
