12 Essential Gaming Sequels That Must Be Announced In 2015

It's about time some of these made a return.

2015 looks to be a huge sigh of relief when it comes to locating those games you bought the new hardware for in the first place - everything from Batman€™s swan song in Arkham Knight to the infuriating (but insanely rewarding) core gameplay of Bloodborne is dropping across the next 12 months, and that in itself is cause for celebration. However, having a Plan A is one thing, and front-loading the now-current generation with a plethora of must-haves will only get you so far. This is an industry built from the ground up on fan-dedication, and the levels of adoration gamers have towards specific franchises doesn€™t dissipate so quickly. Just ask Hideo Kojima, as for many years now he€™s been adamant whichever Metal Gear he was working on would be his last - yet this year you€™ll see The Phantom Pain again helmed by him on shelves. Part of the reason is clearly he just can't help himself, but it's also from thousands of people getting in touch and badgering him to death about continuing on - such is the level of love people have for his work. It's not just him either. Kojima may be a one-off in terms of his eccentricities, but he remains a shining example of something intrinsic to gaming; if a game is worth a day or two's worth of time, we'll always want more. These are the titles that did everything just right, delivering incredible characters, worlds you couldn't get enough of and gameplay mechanics so effortlessly engaging you'd always welcome more with open arms - now it's just a case of developers putting the time in to bring back the right ones.
