There are some achievements that when you see them written down, they don't seem like they'll be that bad. Consequently, when most players spotted the 'Emperor!' achievement - a trophy with the description "Dominate the Alliance War battlefield and become Emperor of Tamriel. Long may you reign!" - they really didn't have any idea what they were letting themselves in for.

Because while its description seems pretty straight forward, the Alliance War is actually the game's PvP mode, where groups of players duke it out to be the dominant force on the battlefield. With so many players involved in the conflict, getting to the top stop and becoming the Emperor is nigh-on impossible unless you're the best of the best.

As a result, there was a huge backlash aimed at the trophy when the game launched, as it locked the vast majority of players out of ever achieving it. There's been some workarounds to cheese your way through it now, but for the most part becoming the Emperor is still as difficult now as it ever was.
