20 Gory Games To Play This Halloween

It's Halloween today, so it's that time of the year again to dust off the masks, don witches hats and brooms, and go our terrorizing the neighbours. Alternatively, if that isn't your sort of thing anymore, you could just stay in and watch a horror movie, or play a good old fashioned video game where, for example, you can kill and maim a whole host of innocent (and not so innocent) NPC's. Hey, why not? It's your party. There's been several over-the-top, ultra-violent video games down the years, from Grand Theft Auto to Manhunt, and State of Emergency to Mortal Kombat. This list contains more blood and guts than your local butchers, without all the mess that comes with it. Here are 20 Gory Games You Should Be Playing This Halloween.

20. Heavy Rain

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrnkIz3GzF4 Heavy Rain is a game where pressing the correct button on the D-Pad is the difference between life and death. You are put into certain situations where the outcome is dependent upon how fast your reflexes are. Get the configuration right, and you thwart your assailant and you might live to tell your story. Get it wrong however, and you meet a very gruesome demise, as seen in the above video compilation. One of the best parts of Heavy Rain was the sheer amount of possible outcomes - and that includes several different ways to die. Whilst you can't technically get a "Game Over", you can get all four playable characters horribly and brutally murdered. My personal favourite was Norman Kayden getting fed into a car crusher. Squelch.
