A good gaming peripheral can be be a totally worthwhile purchase, enriching the experience completely, or opening up new levels of comfort. Unfortunately, video game accessories have widely garnered a reputation of being overpriced, plasticky rubbish. Ever since the popularity of the NES, third party video game accessory manufacturers have been coming up with inventive peripherals that can range from being essential to completely useless. This list features the weirdest, most questionable products that the world of video game peripherals has to offer. Almost unfathomable in their worthlessness, it's a wonder how any of the insane minds behind these accessories are managing to stay in business.

Seeing this ridiculiusly shaped American football accessory, we can't help but wonder if it will encourage such events to happen, regardless of how many straps they slap on it.

The official site for the RailDriver Desktop Train Cab Controller advertises the accessory as having 34 programmable buttons. We're not sure if that's meant to win us over or scare us away. Either way, this device looks too scary and expensive for the average train lover, but too plasticky and gamey for the true fanatics.
