9 Massive Video Game Rumours That Would Dominate 2016

The Elder Scrolls VI, what Nintendo are planning and... oh... Watch Dogs 2.

There's something about potentially spurious information leaking out in all directions that really gets the blood pumping, and when you apply that to the high-octane, multi-million dollar machine that is the gaming industry, even the slightest turn of the rumour mill sends thousands of us into fits of speculation. When handled right, there's nothing better - just look at how Nintendo are handling the 'secret feature' of their new console versus Square's "No, we know what we're doing, honest!" showing of the Final Fantasy VII remake. Either way, it gets everyone talking about the most interesting outcomes of any given situation, and therein lies the most interesting stuff - seeing how it's all going to pan out. So, with the industry now worth $91.5 BILLION by the close of 2015, that's one mighty shiny rumour mill lumbering into gear...

9. Metal Gear Solid VI Gets Announced (In Some Form)

Likelihood? 9/10 Let's face it,'Metal Gear Solid' as a branded term is worth way, WAY too much for it to die with Hideo Kojima's leap-frog over to Sony's comfortable soil. As such, Konami had already started hiring for a new MGS the second they knew Kojima wouldn't be there for the duration. Now, I've already covered a slew of awesome ways you could make MGS VI's story work without Kojima, but it's interesting to note that Konami may elect not to continue the established narrative whatsoever. Instead, they could reboot it from scratch, keeping the mech-based warfare and monologue-happy characters that make Metal Gear what it is. After all, Metal Gear Rising proved the world itself has legs, regardless of having every returning character. Or... it simply lives on as a pachinko machine, like Silent Hill. Either way, Konami are steaming ahead with production on Metal Gear one way or another - the big question is just whether it'll be a full triple-A release, or something far less substantial.
