Throughout the Assassin’s Creed timeline there have only been a few moments which I would call superb, but these moments are over shadowed by some awful dialogue, weapons, fetch quests and overall poor design. If I’m honest, I only liked the second instalment in the rather disorganised timeline and even then there were a lot of problems I encountered. Everyone knows that Assassin’s Creed completely missed the chance to be a great game when Ubisoft introduced time travel in the form of a shaved headed arse; Desmond.
So if you have a lust for Assassin’s Creed that borders on the painfully erotic, do not read the following.
10. No More Hay
Now this first change isn’t purely my gripe, I know for a fact that most people are sick of jumping in hay. Now Ubisoft, when you’re trying to create a gritty realistic story with a convincing setting and world don’t toss that away like a bag of old meat. When you jump from a ridiculously tall building into about a foot of hay realisation seems to take one right in the sack. Yes, maybe for some lesser creatures at the beginning jumping into hay was a humorous little addition to the game, but now it looks bizarre, especially when I’m enjoying the free running machines skipping from roof top to roof top only to misstep and dive into a mound of hay.
I know this might some absurd, but why not take the hay away entirely and swap the hay for the cold unforgiving ground. Yes some gamers will fall to their untimely death more often than not, but the rest of us will enjoy the challenge of actually trying to free run through the trees, builds and cliff edges. However, I do know how frustrating it is to fall off a house and snap your legs on the concrete street below, so if Ubisoft feel the need to add some form of hay, why not have staked boxes? It’ll look a little less ridiculous.

I really enjoy the modern day storyline and the multiplayer because it’s all very unique. You most probably gave the multiplayer one shot and made a conclusion. The multiplayer takes skill and is truly amazing.
If you really despise so many things about Assassin’s Creed then don’t buy it, and save us all from more of these “Why AC3 will suck” kind of posts.
I agree. The multiplayer is amazing, and very original. It’s a very nice break from the normal first-person shoot the crap out of some noobs type gameplay.
Whoever wrote this article was merely trying to get attention. Why would this person play this game or write this article? Maybe they didn’t even play it, and just read some reviews. Mr. Hunt, you’re a pathetic excuse for a critic.
I sure hope they get rid of the economic micromanagement. More assassin action, less tycoon!
I sure hope they get rid of the micromanagement. More assassin action is way better than shops and always having money on your mind.
I like being able to call in Assassins. The whole training them idea was pointless though. I didn’t mind rennovating Motereggoni in AC 2, but there were too many shops to rennovate in BH/Revelations.
Revelations improved facial animations alot.
Okay, first of all, you may not realize it, but if you got as you wanted assassin’s creed would be destroyed. Jumping into a haystack may be unrealistic but, it’s what makes assassins cool and take away half the arsenal is not such a good idea, players maybe want those weapons.
This article might as well be called top 10 ways to destroy assassin’s creed. And don’t buy ac3 because in your eyes, it’s gonna be disappointment.
There are absolutely the worst and most retarded suggestions anyone has ever made for Assassin’s Creed. You’re basically asking them to remove some of the most iconic, not to mention praised aspects of the franchise, and the other suggestions are the most simplistic, irrelavant suggestions I have ever seen. Who exactly are these “we” you are referring to, because I’m very much involved with the AC fan community and they certainly do not want these “improvements”.
I agree completely with multiplayer it is absolutely awful. I only play single player because I tried multiplayer and nearly killed myself with boredom. The ‘conveniently placed bale of hay’ are just so unrealistic in the new one they could introduce thick piles of snow or just get rid of them completely because the first thing my mate said when he saw me playing it was how convenient that bale of hay was there. Another annoying thing is how stupid the guard AI is ‘you sit on a bench’ Where did he go?
This article is so stupid, and I’m not being biased, I’ve read through every page and what I’ve seen is utterly garbage, I agree with the previous comment, the article SHOULD be called “10 ways to destroy Assassin’s Creed.” Firstly the hay bale is a staple of AC, so what if it’s unrealistic? It lets you quickly get back to solid ground without having to slowly climb down a ridiculously tall building. Secondly Desmond is the backbone of AC, he’s the reason the games link and produce an amazingly unique story, without him you’d literally be assassinating a few people then game over. No depth. People would get bored and be put off buying any sequels. Finally the multiplayer is one of the most unique out there, it’s not just ‘shoot whatever you see that moves’ it requires skill and stealth – something which isn’t seen in a lot of multiplayers *cough..cod*, also, the single player and multiplayer are developed by two different studios, which means they both receive full attention. In conclusion, this article is dumb an deserves absolutely no merit.

this is awful article the one about the arsenal is stupid, weapons were around in them times and ubisoft want to make a game which is correct about the past if there was no guns in assassin’s creed then it would make the game unrealistic you can’t go back in time and say that no the american revolution has too many guns in will make a game in the future to hard
I agree that they should re-focus on the single-player again now the multi-player is up and running. I’m not a fan of it but I know many people play it online, so I don’t want to be selfish and get rid of it without considering those who play the game for it.
Less weapons will make the game boring and repetitive, doing the same old kills with the same weapons.
The haystacks and Desmond are the core of AC, they shouldn’t be removed because some ass-wipe finds them boring.
The whole renovating the cities just gives you something extra to do. The Creed don’t just kill people, they rebuild and help the lives of others, therefore, the renovating.
Lets face it, the game isn’t LA Noire. Rockstar focused on that part of the game, but had a fairly lame story, whereas Ubisoft will most definitely give another compelling story and improved combat.
Please don’t make any more pointless articles on how bad you are at the game and moaning at how you want to simply dispose of everything that made the franchise the success it is today. If you do make more dreaded articles, be considerate and base your views and opinions of the game with the majority of the AC Community and not what some retarded critic hates about the game, tit.
I disagree with the Desmond parts, I find his part in the series very interesting, sure some people just like to run around killing but i rather appreciate the story and i think they’ve done it rather well. Only thing I don’t like is that Desmond has had all this bleeding effect training only to be shoved back into the animus, i think its about time we saw a bit more of him killing templars outside of the animus.
I do agree with the multiplayer though, Brotherhood and Revelations definately suffered because of that absolute pile of junk piled on, the templar training included would have been better added as a side story or DLC. All the effort spent on that attrocious pile would have been better spent making the single player much better, plus with xbox live it means i’ll have to pay even more money just to play the full amount of content of a game i’ve already paid for.
Tom Hunt has no idea what he is talking about. If you didn’t like the Assassins Creed Games then why would you write an article. Judging by the amount of preorders Assassins Creed 3 has already received, I think it is a safe assumption that fans consider Assassins Creed games to be “great games.” When he refers to “We” in the title of his article, he must be refering to multiple personalities that live inside his head. Maybe you should stick to playing WOW, COD, Halo, or whatever other game it is you play Tom and write articles based on what you know. Judging from this article, you lack the intelligence to know what it takes to make a “great game.” Maybe you should think about changing career paths altogether as I don’t think you have what it take to be a journalist.
This article is utter garbage, all of the reasons suggested would totally ruin the series. I don’t even have to go into further detail, as I would only be echoing the points of people before me.
Tom Hunt,
Check your spelling before submitting an article.
Also this article is pretty much garbage, essentially ripping on everything that makes this game.
So many typos!I fell for your typos as you do for Desmond. And no I appreciate Ubisoft using a central character being cleverly tied to the past. Without desmond it’d be like telling three different stories without ever telling the ending. Useless.
Yeah. Total garbage. Top ten ways to destroy Assassin’s Creed – well put.
All of these changes are horrible. The guy knows nothing about what makes the game good. This are stupid and hurtful suggestions to the game
Hold on just one minite. How can you claim to know better than the thousands of people still buying assasins creed. You are 100% completely and utterly wrong. Yes, I agree jumping into haystacks is and walking away unharmed is far-fetched but is epic. It has been their since Altair and has stayed. It is one of assasins creed signature things. Like the eagle or the hidden blade.
Secondly, why get rid of Desmond? He links it all together, he is an assasin. The underlining plot is immensely complicated and is boring at first until you get your head round it.
Thirdly, why get rid of the weapon wheel. You’re an assasin yes? So if you want to assasinate incredibly powerful or meaningful people you’d want to have the best chance possible. This requires you first aquianting yourself with your weapons and choosing the ones you are most efficient with. For instance I am not great at stealth so if I want to stay hidden I tend to use my crossbow. If I want to fight then it’s time to pull out my battle axe. However my brother is great at assasinations so he tends to use the hidden blade.
These are not the only things I would not get rid of however I have rambled on to much already. My point is basically this. You know nothing of assasins creed and I hope your views are ignored for assasins creed 3 because I have already pre-ordered it and it would be lame with your changes.
My only real problem with assassins creed is that when you are surrounded by like 6 soldiers most if them just stand there while you eventually beat them down one by one I would like to see a more focused AI where they see the opportunity to attack you and take it not attack one by one the combat experience would be a hole lot better
Tom Hunt the idiot who wrote this article just flat out doesn’t understand what makes the Assassin’s Creed series great and so loved, and his “improvements” are just him bitching about things he sucks at, doesn’t like, or is to stupid to understand.
I think that this dumb **** needs to play a more simplified game series cause its clear AC is to much for him and to complicated. I laughed out loud at his idiotic comments on Desmond, the multiplayer and the “shut up just shut up” whining.
this is the worst list ever i disagree with absolutely everything except the lip syncing but ive never even noticed it this person obviously just hates the game
This is terrible
This guy is one of those people who bashes through a game in no time flat not paying any attention to the storyline at all. If he did he would realise that desmond is definatly integral to the story and should not be killed off anytime soon. Desmond adds another layer to the story to ensure that everything you do as an ancestor of his means something. It spurs you on.
What a total douche i disagree wholeheartedly with everything he says.
you complain about things not being realistic eg. haystacks but it is a game it’s not supposed to be realistic. Ezio can kill dozens of people effortlessly yet you thought they were going for realism. Do you want a game that is just a recording of someone’s everyday life? No. It is the unrealistic bits that make the game fun instead of being boring and repetitive.
The only complaint here that has any merit is that of the multiplayer. And the only reason that I wish it wasn’t included is because I want platinum trophies and I only enjoy the single player experience. Other than the trophy issue though, you can just not play it. Simple as that.
The rest just seems like (typo ridden) griping. It sounds like the reviewer just doesn’t like Assassin’s Creed at all. If you hate everything about it, my #1 suggestion for the reviewer is to play ANY other game, rather than wishing that AC was different in every way.
Most of these are not “improvements” at all, just wishing you were playing something else. You might as well say that Final Fantasy could be improved if they just got rid of the moogles and magic.
When you said that they should get rid of Desmond and the Adam and Eve part of the game, is when you really jumped the shark. Please go play something more simple and standard and leave Assassin’s Creed to continue being unique and awesome.
Just to say that I love this game but I don t like in assassin s creed 3 that fight is only attack attack attack and more of it.I want to stay in defense and attack fast like real assasin!!!!
The 10 “improvements” would ruin the game.
That said, to everybody complaining about the shops and training assassin’s: you have to remember that after the first game the Assassin’s as an organisation went underground; its formal structures dissolved to protect its members. Ezio is basically rebuilding the organisation, so recruiting new assassin’s and creating a stream of income makes complete sense and is necessary for the story to be believable.
The game has gotten easier with each new version. You no longer have to be very stealthy unless you want full synch and you no longer have to gather information and do recon before an assassination. Add to that killing streaks and assassin recruits, and you’re pretty much an unstoppable murder machine capable of taking on hundreds of guards. If anything Ubisoft need to re-introduce some of the features from the first game in any future versions.
