Assassin's Creed 3: 10 Improvements We Want To See

9. Should I Stab, Slice, Shoot, Shoot With an Arrow, Throw an Axe, Slice With an Axe€?

If we can just calm down whomever it is at Ubisoft who insists that we have about twenty different weapons with half doing more or less the same thing, this problem would be gone. Playing through Assassin€™s Creed Revelations I can€™t be the only one who thought having a bloody hook blade was like having the best pair of shoes in Paralympic basketball. For those who never played Revelations, the hook blade allowed you to climb structures (historically needed in a climbing free running game) and permits you to zip line down various ropes. Now why the suborning hell is something that slows down climbing and in the very, very, very few instances when you actually need to zip line down instead of climbing down coded into Revelations? Unfortunately for Ubisoft this pattern of useless weapons has been a trend in Assassin€™s Creed series, but if we could just reduce the number of weapons and have four core armaments; a sword, gun, dagger and maybe some pet bear would force the player themselves to think of intercut ways to use them all. Remember, being a silent assassin Connor can€™t be knocking about with swords and guns clanking together drawing every enemy in a five mile radius to your position, so to use an old cliché. Less is more.
