Back in 2009, game developer Rocksteady gave the world the best Batman/Superhero video game ever with Batman: Arkham Asylum. For the first time, gamers were graced with the opportunity to BE Batman in a digital world.
Fast forward to 2011 and the release of the direct sequel Batman: Arkham City. Incredibly we all know now that the sequel surpassed the original I every way.
That being said, we can’t help but wonder how Rocksteady will one-up Arkham City with their next inevitable installment. We have a few demands however that we think can help…
1. Keep The Joker Dead
In Arkham City, game writer and all around Batman God Paul Dini made a seriously ballsy move and killed off one of the most iconic characters in fiction history. It made for a chilling conclusion to an already stellar game and left the player with that “End of Empire Strikes Back” hollowness. It truly is the perfect recipe for what you want a middle piece of a trilogy to be.
Of course in all likihood the Joker somehow could return in the next game, however I think it would be far more interesting to go through the game as a Batman dealing with the death of his evil counterpart. Who knows how Batman would react to such a thing as it has never been seen in any other medium. Story wise this would allow for some interesting new takes on the character. Also the clown’s presence would still be felt in the city dead or alive.

Hush does not know Batman is Bruce Wayne, he just has a grudge against Bruce.
Incorrect…in the comics Hush has known Batman/Bruce were the same for years
The main difference is that he does not know Bruce is the Bat in the game though, unlike the comic.
However, in Arkham City, Hush states he is only taking on Bruce’s face for good old fashioned revenge. HE never once alludes or states to the fact that Bruce Wayne is Batman. In ARkham City, he’s just doing it to get back at Bruce.
Nice article, although I don’t see Superman fitting into the Arkham franchise, as there has been no mention of him in previous games, and I just think he would feel out of place in the world of these games. I also feel that whilst the batmobile could be a nice addition, it could become too big a part of the game, and in some ways I think it could slow the game down. Other than that I agree with you, even with the joker thing, partially because I think that it would be somewhat jumping the shark if he were to re-appear.
But remember that it is all of Gotham we are talking about. It would be sad if batman couldn’t reach a crime in time. And superman can appear from the justice league, trying to help batman, but ends up in a trap by poisin Ivy and get brain washed.
I think that instead of doing an entire city, which although rocksteady probibly could pull off with enough time, Gotham should be sectioned off into like 3 or 4 districts that the player can move and glide throughout, to section them off, maybe a character like the fire fly could set fire around them, or things got bad enough in the city that Bruce Wayne calls in Lucious Fox to raise all bridges on the island. Wayne Industries, should be in one of the districts because of the resources it can provide for Bats. Gadgets, whatever he needs, its there. It would be cool to see part of the Narrows done in a district and maybe be territory for Scarecrow.
But Metropolis has been mentioned in the games. So there is room for him to appear.
nice article man, but your missing one. true i don’t see superman in the arkham verse. you missed the part where The bat family comes in and has a role as well. if the sequel was Gotham city and it will, Robin needs something to do in Gotham and Nightwing as well, hes need to speak too like talking trash to criminals while he beats them up and we have an choice to choose ethier Batman, Robin, Nightwing or Catwoman to roam around gotham city. and i would love to fly the Batwing!
This idea I like the most. Switching them up in Arkham City is fun, but giving them a larger role would be amazing, and the option for free roam for side quests maybe after the game is done would be fun. I love Bats, but I have a soft spot for Robin.
I really hate DC cross overs.. I think the game would be perfect with Catwoman, Robin and Nightwing all with larger roles alongside the bat-vehicles (while driving then of course) which is what would stand out in the third game the most (maybe even a car chase with two-face or something!). As for gang leaders I think Scarface, Blackmask and the Falcones would be great new villains. I’d also love to see Firefly torching buildings within the chaos, and I want to see Killer Moth and Man-bat (Man-bat could be pretty scary in the Rocksteady series and you unlock his bio in Arkham Asylum). This will still be a great game WITHOUT the Joker although I hope we see him in a Scarecrow illusion or a false lead-on like a pre-recorded message he had for his future plans. Harley Quinn could miraculously change/mature since Joker’s death and be as cunning as ever, which would be impressive to see. She could also hire the “Jokerz” gang cause I think they’re really cool for dressing up as unique clowns from their inspiration from Joker and could be her elite henchmen or something. Either way I really hope they don’t screw it up with a prequel or Justice league – -
As far as #1 “Keep Joker Dead” .. Mark Hamill has stated on many occasions that he has retired as the Clown Prince of Crime! Without Mark Hamill as the voice of Joker, the next game would be an Epic Fail! Other side note .. Hush DOES KNOW Bruce is Batman!
Hammil also stated he would return for quality projects. He’s done with TAS and small creations, but I’m sure if Rocksteady wanted to include the Joker in the trilogy I’m sure Hamill would be happy to return.
Number 1 will not work for u my friend. The sequel for Archam City will be a prequel thus will center around batman meeting the joker. What’s I’d like more about the next Archam is a more Nolanized world. And def the batmobile

Wrong, maybe he does in this given story, but in Arkham City, in side mission, it is clear he has no clue, that he’s dealing with Bruce Wayne behind the gate… He is sure he trapped an unknown guy, only known as Batman. He reveals his face as Bruce Wayne’s, since Batman surely knows him, but that’s it. Hush in Arkhamverse has no idea who in fact he’s dealing with.
I don’t think there should a 3rd game. There just isn’t enough story wise, I think, to sustain an entire 3rd game, even with the Azrael, Hush, and Scarecrow cliffhangers. Plus, giving it an epic ending on par with the Joker dying, probably won’t happen. I’d rather Rocksteady put effort into more dlc episodes with the 3 aforementioned characters, and/or any others they can fit in. Harley Quinn’s Revenge was awesome, but I need more. I know they’re making a prequel with some Justice League members, but I’d rather Rocksteady experiment with ideas for a Superman solo game. Not sure how they could do it, but I’m open.
Ok your list is way off there will be no superman because this is the arkham franchise. Second the next game will be based on batman struggling to get over the fact the the joker is dead only to find out later on in the game that he has been alive this whole time and is up to some new nasty trick. Also it wont get any bigger beacuse other people live in the city. And one last troll statement there is no way in hell they are going to realese a batman game that the joker dosent take part in beacuse harly quinn is still in the picture and she is his side kick. NOW!!!!! This is a major spoiler the joker acually dies one year before bruce retieres and the batman beyond series starts.

Na, i think the split screen co-op will kill the franchise. They should indeed add a co-op mode,but without the split screen, where one player can be Robin or Nightwing and the other could be Batman. I would love to control the Batmobile, the Batplane or even nightwing’s Motorcycle, also i think the should give Batman the ability to swim and Dive. villains i would love to face in the next installment of Batman game are as follow: The Firefly, Calendar Man, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, Hush. Yes that would be awesome. They should add all the villians except joker, Ra’s, and Thalia. We should have all the vechicles. We should also have all of Gotham. I think superman would be a great audition to the game, it would give us something to do. There should be a part were you have to locate Killer croc and the only way in is actually thru the lake of gotham. That were you’ll be able to use the batsubmarine. All the character of the bat family should have there own story mode( it should be way longer than the previous catwoman story) and should have all the costumes ever made in the comics. When I mean all the characters, I mean all the characters. Like Batwoman, Batgirl, nightwing, Robin, and Catwoman. We should be able to meet go around gotham, find weird missing machine parts, and be able to create gadgets.

Interesting list, but not sure I agree with all your points…
1) The Joker doesn’t necessarily need to be dead, they can just keep him out of the game. Imagine completing the main storyline, and right at the end, seeing the Joker emerging having faked his death at the end of AC, would lead nicely into a fourth installment.
2) New villains would be great. The Scarecrow easter egg suggests that he’d play a big part, whilst the likes of Black Mask and Red Hood haven’t been touched upon yet. Plus, the side-missions involving Azrael and Hush were very open-ended. whilst Two-Face will no doubt be looking to pick himself up.
3) No to Superman. In neither game is there a reference to Clark Kent or Metropolis or anything to do with Superman – he simply isn’t needed in Gotham.
4) It’s only natural that they’d have to increase the size of the next game. However, I like the example of GTA that you use to get the point across. A bigger game to play in would also open up the possibility of side-stories involving Robin or Nightwing, which I’d like to see.
5) I don’t like the idea of the Batmobile. While I can see the point you’re making, I feel that in AC nearly every side street has some sort of action, be it henchman, riddle or side-story. I think that in the Batmobile, you’d either miss a lot of these, or you’d end up not using the Batmobile whilst exploring them. Besides, it’s not exactly time-consuming getting about with Batman!
Overall, like I said interesting list, if not fully agreeable!

Actually there is a reference to Metropolis, where Ra’s Al Ghul says he’ll build another prison like this in Bludhaven and Metropolis, where Talia says to bruce, “you didn’t need to get yourself arrested to see me Bruce, after that night in metropolis, you could’ve just called.” and there’s also a reference as Solomon Grundy is a villain that all major DC characters have fought, so if he returns we may also get some of the JLA to help
Just a note on the new villains. Red Hood can’t appear in the next game in my opinion, Jason Todd appears really briefly in Arkham City as Robin and Joker kills Talia (as far as we can tell) and then “dies” at the end of the game. Considering its Joker who kills Jason Todd and Talia who uses the Lazarus Pit to bring him back to life, giving birth to the Red Hood, he isn’t a possible enemy for me. Personally I’d like to see Black Mask, Prometheus, Two-Face, Hush, Killer Croc, Scarface and the Ventriloquist. Black Mask because he keeps getting mentioned and he seems like he’s be an interesting enemy. Prometheus, this guy sounds epic and could easily be the final boss given what I’ve read about him, would also be nice to have a really strong hand-to-hand combatant to go up against. Two-Face, lets be honest he sucked in Arkham City, now I don’t mean that the character was bad it’s just that he appeared for 5 minutes at the start and then nothing, I want to see him as the badass, terrifying character that he is. Hush well we already know this guys appearing in the next game and he seems like an interesting character. Killer Croc, we keep seeing this guy and he keeps delivering tension filled moments, in Arkham City he scared the crap out of me in the sewers and I needed to take a break because I hadn’t expected him to show up, and in Asylum well I don’t think any enemy in any game has made me as nervous as Killer Croc does whilst in his lair, however I’d love one of these moments to end up with you having to fight the guy I can’t imagine a harder fight other than maybe Prometheus. Scarface and the Ventriloquist, these guys sound really amusing and I’d love to see them in the game just to see how they would work in game. I’d also like the boss fights to become much harder, in Arkham City Solomon Grundy, Ra’s al Ghul and Clayface should be some of the hardest fights throughout the game, but they’re really not difficult at all once you get used to their attacks they just become predictable and easy to finish off, sometimes even boring, I’d like the boss AI in fights to become more adaptable to the way you fight making them much harder to defeat, because I found large groups of standard thugs without knives, guns, armour or shields much harder to deal with than any of those three.
If I remember correctly, the Robin we see in AC and get to play as in Harley Quinn’s revenge, is in fact Tim Drake and not Jason Todd. I seem to remember Oracle calling him Tim more than once.
IF – IF, I am correct, this makes it entirely possible for Jason Todd to appear as Red Hood because he has already been beaten and blown up by Joker and then chucked into a Lazurus Pit by Talia.
And a couple people have mentioned wanting to see Black Mask in the next game. This is quite likely since they went to the trouble of including him AC. He is referred to as the only person to escape Arkham City (by blasting a hole through the wall before security was stepped up, a wanted posted can be seen in at least one location and if you look to your right as Bruce Wayne is led into line for processing at the beginning of the game, you will see a recaptured Black Mask being tasered silly by a couple Tiger guards (right before meeting an out-of-costume Deadshot and getting a distant glimpse of Azrael).
Also, Prometheus is referenced in the form of a dossier that can be found in the GCPD building in AC. I agree with you about wanting to see him in the next game.
I like the idea of joker not being dead they should do something about how two-face takes over and takes the penguin’s and Joker’s thugs but then joker comes back and this time actually beats batman which would leave a great way to get people anticipated for the 4th game
What if the first scene out of the game you use the bat mobile to complete a mission and then have a villain blow it up right away
A quick thing, Strange was going to place a Arkham City like prison across the country, as he said he would continue it to Metropolis but he died, this leaves Ras Al Ghul to play an important part.

Good article. Joker will definatly make a return in a future game, although hopefully not this one. Before someone responds with a huge comment about how joker is confirmed to be dead, keep in mind this isin the same universe as grundy, superman, killer croc and others. This in mind, a return of joler is completely possible

only problem is this isnt canon with the comics and its pretty obvious in ac that he doesnt know that batman is bw or he would have referred to him as bw not batman.
Maybe in the next game, Hush figures out Batman’s true identity, thus helping make the game a little more canonical with the comics.
My list (in no particular order)
1) Co-op
2) Follow-up on the loose ends in Arkham City. That’s Hush, the LoA, Black Mask, Azrael, and of course Harley. Maybe have Hush show up leading the League of Shadows/Assassins impersonating Bruce, as Batman is dealing with Scarecrow and Black Mask. Also, Azrael could be there, forming a new alliance. Harley should be the secondary storyline, another distraction.
3) A vehicle. I agree that the Batmobile might not work in an open-ended game, but the Batpod might.
4) Mimic what was done in this game. Give the player the best weapons from both of the previous games at the beginning of this one, and continue to improve detective mode.
5) Sidekicks. This goes with co-op, but I’d like to see Robin, Nightwing, and Batgirl at least. I’d also like the ability to play as the supervillains in the Game+ Mode.
Batgirl wouldnt work as Barbra gordon has already been paralysed and become oracle so you would either have to make it a prequel or introduce a new batgirl
You realize some details have already been released and its going to be a prequel game based during the silver age with Batman’s first encounter with the Joker and will most likely teaming up with other DC characters
1) Gotham city is a given. And yea I love the idea of a GTA-like world. Batmobile & batboat would both be incredible. You can only glide for so long until it becomes repetitive. Batwing might be a little toooo much lol.
2) Definitely follow up on all of the cliffhangers (Scarecrow, hush, azrael) and give some larger roles to those who made a quick exit in AC (Clayface, two-face, bane). But also toss in a few new villains that were maybe mentioned but never given the time to shine (Ventriloquist/Scarface, firefly)
3) I love the idea of entering/exiting the batcave by car or boat. Pushing a button and watching a bookcase or something along those lines moving aside. We didnt get a cave in AC and the one in Asylum wasnt much to brag about.
4) Being able to roam without the suit as Bruce Wayne would be fun. I enjoyed the little time as bruce in AC. Could always do something with press conferences/business related ideas idk.
5) Allowed to keep a good amount of gadgets with your hero, but not all. Should go back to the cave/batmobile to switch if needed. It looks a bit ridiculous how he has SO MANY gadgets with that size belt lol.
6) Co-op, Yes. Split-screen, NO! I feel split-screen would take away far too much from the isolated single player prowler/stealth mode. HOWEVER if one wanted to join in as another hero on their own console and tv, THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!
7) We should be able to choose from Batman, robin, nightwing and catwoman. And of course I dont have to stress NW having a voice.. but also being able to glide. It was his gliding device that led to batman adopting it for the BBeyond suit. And they have a beyond suit. WHAT WAS UP WITH HIM NOT GLIDING?
Demanding a storyline to include playin as robin or even nightwing! Beast as heck!! Trust me add those guys to play as in the STORY MODE not only map challenges, and buyers will deffinatly come.

Nice opinion piece, however one GLARING mistake. Thomas Elliot (Hush) does NOT know that Bruce Wayne is Batman. The end of this mission string “Identity Thief” shows that as Hush’s target is merely Bruce himself. He even says to Batman, “and there is nothing you can do to stop it.” Hush COULD be a main villian if they do another direct sequel.
1.) First of all, WOW…no love for Superman. I’m somewhat amazed by that, as some of you clearly lack an imagination. It is totally conceivable to have Superman exist as not so much a “villain”, but at least an opposing character. Apparently most of you guys don’t read up on your comics, but the man is undoubtedly onto something. A “boss” battle between these two – given some carefully, well-articulated tactics for Batman – COULD be thrilling. Remember God of War III? (Kratos vs. Hercules) + Kryptonite-laced arsenal + possible mind control (Black Mask/Mad Hatter?)…the possibilities are endless. Don’t limit everything down to DLC and/or the obvious (super-strength to end it all). Much more can be crafted to make this battle epic…and as far as I’m concerned, is LONG overdue in the gaming world.
P.S.: To further my argument on you people not paying attention to your comics, I’m not sure what the hell the debate is about Hush and Bruce Wayne is. Thomas Elliott does know Bruce is Batman. Now, yes…Elliott does have a vendetta against Bruce, but it started against Batman. While chasing Catwoman in the graphic novel series, Hush mysteriously snapped Bat’s line while swinging on it, causing his fall that led to him finding Elliott to perform surgery on him (hence, the ridiculously quick overnight recovery). But remember, Elliott implanted a tracking device in Bruce’s head, which Superman assisted in burning at the end of the series. That device led to Elliott’s discovery of Batman’s identity. I could write all day about this. So for those of you who say he doesn’t know…you couldn’t be any more wrong. Arkham City might imply an entirely different sideline due to story or dimension, but the real truth’s in the comics.
This article is ridiculous. You have completely missed the point of what makes these Arkham games so special. They do NOT try and recreate a full blown hollywood blockbuster experience that you describe. Creating a batmobile GTA style game is entirely NOT what these games are about. They are about closeness and atmosphere.
1)I agree with no joker. although i would be fine with him being the main villain in the next game because there is so much you can do with the joker. But it would be nice to switch up the main villains. maybe just mention joker still being alive or something to put him in a fourth game. bringing the joker back would be nice eventually, just not in the next game.
2)Like i mentioned before, it would be nice to have a new villain, and i definitely agree that with joker gone, all the other villains will want to try to run Arkham, or Gotham, or wherever the next game will be. maybe as a side thing, Penguin and Two-Face should be at it against each other again. Also i would love to see Hush as a main villain. And btw, Hush does not know Bruce Wayne is Batman. Maybe he does in the comics, but this forum’s about the Arkham games, not the comics. Anyway, the cliffhangers with Black Mask and Azrael would definitely be a cool side quest. and with scarecrow, killer croc, scarface, and maybe something with calendar man. I also think the idea of Red Hood being a villain would make for another spectacular game. And if they do anything with the pregnancy test and Harley, i hope its on the side and not too significant because, like i said, it would be nice to have a new villain other than joker and harley quinn.
3)It would be cool to have other DC heroes in the game but definitely not too excessively. i personally like the idea of superman being a villain due to mind control, but maybe not in this next game since he was not mentioned in the other games. maybe in a later game. maybe he could be a main boss, that would be an interesting story but with the whole Arkham thing goin on with the demented and crazy villains, i dont think superman would fit in too well.
4)The map should definitely be bigger, that’s for sure, and it most likely will be. I love the idea of using the entire Gotham City, and I definitely missed Wayne Manor and the Batcave in Arkham City. I also think being able to wander Wayne Manor and the Batcave and maybe even Gotham as Bruce would be interesting as well. Also, playable Nightwing and Robin (maybe Red Robin if they can somehow put Damian into it as well which wouldn’t be too hard but maybe a little too out there) should be incorporated into the story mode. and i’d definitely like to see a batgirl as well. Playable Catwoman should be brought back again too.
5)As far as an upgradeable vehicle goes, the batmobile might be a little too much, but there should definitely be some sort of vehicle. I don’t follow the comics faithfully so their might be something simpler than the batmobile or not. the batbike or batcycle or whatever its called would be cool, but then again, its probably just as simple as the batmobile. Honestly, i’d be happy with or without, but i’d be happier with :D
also, something you didn’t mention that i saw in the comments was the idea of coop play. i agree that splitscreen would take away from the experience but online coop would be great!
they should make the game story about mystery staker hush fakes being bruce wayne and killercroc goes to gotham by the swewer and solomon grundy goes back alive bcs in the comics he doesnt die he gets to gotham and about black mask having a gang and the falcone gang aswell and scare crow bcs of the secret message AND REMEMBER TALIA IS THE LEADER OF LEAGUE OF SHADOW THAT SHE IS IMMORTAL OF THE LAZARUS PIT then myb they could that shes dating hush bcs of the wrong identity instead of the real bruce and myb ratcatcher and myb u could put batgirl and myb when ur batman u can go to his mansion batcave and around gotham city but you should totaly put put manbat into skin or something and myb batman can go to meet mr fox to get new gadget and myb u can costumixe your batsuit with different types of gauntlet emblem cape weapons color or maybe the batman cowboy pirate caveman just like in the comic book and mybe types of boots gloves mask belt and mybe an diving mask to get riddles under water in killer croc lair or something like that and mabye of flight mode up in the sky batmobile batwing myb the story of robin becoming the red hood and i have tons more but ill post them later on :)

Firstly, the Arkhamverse and comicverse are completely separate. In Arkham, Hush has just met Batman, and has no idea who he is.
Also, yeah, Joker’s dead. On the bright side, it is possible that Harley Quinn is pregnant. We could be seeing a younger, possible teenage, Joker Jr in the next game.
There are tons of Scarecrow hints littered about the game, so possibly he will feature as a much more prominent, and terrifying, villain.
Plus, Batmobil YES!!!!! And the whole of Gotham should be explorable, with tons of missions involving apprehending burglars etc.
As for Superman, I believe Metropolis was mentioned very briefly in one of the games, along with Green Lanterns city, so maybe Superman could appear as an optional boss.
Oh, and I reckon that the series will end after three games (the Arkham Trilogy)
Interesting list but…I think Superman shouldn’t be involved cause I just don’t think he’d fit THIS version of batman also it would pretty cool to see the batmobile..if it was used right. Like if it’s just something you can use to cruise around in..that’s kind of lame but if they went “Batman Returns” style with it and say had a mission where Penguin or someone put a tracker/control device on the cat and bat man had to control it for so long with out killing too many people before he found the remote that would be cool.
A couple of points that need addressing. Raj Al Ghul’s body disappears from where he landed after the wonder tower explodes, yet his sword remains there. And in Harley Quinns revenge we see about 15 negative pregnancy tests and scarface dressed as Joker in the crib at the steel mill. The league will feature heavily in the future and Harley ain’t pregnant! However there are posters for Cadmus Labs all over the shipyard, so expect a cloned Joker child in the future maybe? Personally I think the Scarecrow should be central to any follow on. Release his toxin into the city and Batman has to deal with all the super villains hyped up and paranoid as well as normal citizens. And of course all that is just an elaborate diversion for what is really going on!

I want to see a hurting batman having to overcome the death of the joker… more towards the dark knight returns batman, really old guy beating up on newer villains possibly a young jokers son !?! Also no other superheroes (Lantern, Superman ect) just keep it to Nightwing, Robin, and Catwoman.

All very good demands but playing as Bruce Wayne and batman whenever also playing as robin or night wing would be amazing in free play and have the story take place more than over one night has it take place over days and when in free play have the days change to nights like in the grand theft auto series
Silver age prequel, stupid. If i were in charge, i would introduce wayne manor/batcave as a hub. You can switch with robin, nightwing, and for a funny bonus or cheat, Alfred. All the villians hav been transfered back to arkham and blackgate. Two face ultimately rules arkham city and his army has expanded. Batman is upset about j`s death. Black Mask has teamed with hush since he can hack into waynes funds and pay bail. Two face is going to let his army loose on gotham, u try to stop him. Once u stop him he tells u of his accomplice. Go back into gotham (free roam) and find the dude, its red hood. I can go on. Side missions: harley takes a whole hospital hostage cause her water broke. Ventriliquist and scarface murder police officers, big hit: Jim Gordan. Mr freeze needs your help with the final element of noras cure. Bonus scene jokers at the hospital with the baby.

I think it would be cool if the batmobile was used in a functional perspective as well. Kind of like Samus’s gunship in Metroid Prime 2. You use it to get recharge, save and traverse to different access points of the whole arkham city map.

I mean, the Joker is DEAD. Batman needs the Joker as much as the Joker needs him. I don’t think I would be interested in a game without him. (And if they’d try to bring him back, he would be without Mark Hamill, which would be pointless.) The end of Arkham City was chilling and haunting, and felt like an oddly definite ending to it all. It sort of lingers on in your head for days after you finish. Exactly the kind of darkness you need for the conclusion to a Batman saga. A lot of times, game and film makers make the mistake of doing what their wallets tell them to do, rather than what’s best for the project they’re working on. I’m losing faith in sequels, let alone third installments. Lets just let The Joker and the Arkham games rest in peace for now. And unless the writers are hit with a sudden, fantastic burst of inspiration, I think it should stay that way.
I think once you complete it there should be a free roam where the batsignal signals at random times because someone is in trouble
I have to object that Superman idea. The Dark Knight returns is hardly the first time Supes and Bats crossed eachother in combat. Nor was it the last seeing as they’ve fought multiple times since (I think Supes has most wins but the fact that Bruce has any, is a credit to him). A fight could work but it would have to be done well. Clark can’t be turned into a pathetic man suffering from radiation poisoning due to Kryptonite. There also needs to be a pretty good reason for them to fight in a way where he doesn’t just super-speed through bats… or beat him just by blowing in his general direction. They could reuse the HUSH idea or do something similar but with a nice twist. That is they could have it so Supes already knows Batman and his secret identity Bruce Wayne personally very well with the implication they have worked together in the league. Make it clear that Clark is resisting his hardest from just blasting him from orbit with his heat-vision.

I think firstly the next game should be called: Batman; Gotham City.
The start of the game should be: Bruce is sitting in the Bat cave, thinking of the Joker, he has flash backs of the last so many years with the Asylum and Arkham City, how much destruction the Joker caused. He is also thinking about life without the Joker, will it be as bad as it was or will it mean the End of the Batman. It’s all Bruce can think about Until the light of the Bat Signal shines upon his face.
We then get the chance to suit up as Batman and jump in the Batmobile and drive in to the streets of Gotham, and to the Rooftop of the GCPD, to see Gordon waiting for us, to tell us that there has been a clue left on his desk and it’s for Batman. It’s from the Joker. But how can this be? Joker is dead?
Well, before he died, He named his successor, and it ain’t Harley Quinn. The person had to leave the clues and Batman now has to find out. While he does that, he bumps into Villians like Scarecrow, Killer Croc, Catwoman, Penguin, Riddler, Two Face, Bane, Poison Ivy, Ra’s al Ghul, Talia al Ghul, Victor Zsasz, Mr Frezze, Deadshot Hush and BlackMask and introduce new characters like Maxie Zeus, Man-Bat, Red Hood, The Ventriloquist, Killer Moth, Catman and Carmine Falcone.
Anyone of these characters could be Jokers successor. Batman has his hands full. But rarely do we get to call for Robin or Nightwing’s help. Instead, We use the help of Alfred, Oracle and Lucius Fox.
Gotham is riddled with the scum of the Underworld, the Mafia is trying to take over now that Joker is dead, so Gotham has become a War Zone.
We get to solve riddles, murders and also go on chases. We become the true Batman. While he is fighting the criminal underworld, he also assist the Police in the minor things to help get Gotham back to the glory days.
In this game, we get to use the things we never got to use in the last two games, things like the Bat-mobile, Bat-plane, Bat-Pod, etc. We also find that Catwoman isn’t as much as the criminal she makes out to be. She wants to help Batman whilst doing her crimes. And whilst Batman would like her help as she is a criminal and could get information Batman can’t, He can’t trust her, because he isn’t sure if she is the Joker’s successor.
I could go on forever with this, as i have a whole notebook of ideas for this next game. So hope you like what you have read so far.
Brilliant ideas, I do think black mask has been edged into the arkham story slowly so he can have a big entrance in some sort of conclusion, I don’t see any hope for scarecrow to return, the fear toxin has been done before, the only new thing to be done is a fist fight between the two, all though I would like to have the fear toxin used to make batman haunted by the joker. Hush would be a uneek take on batman as he matches batman mentally and physically. But since the robin we saw in arkham city was Tom drake, that means Jason Todd is dead, wouldn’t it be great to see red hood adapted to arkham city (preferably under the red hood style costume). I would like robin and nightwing to have at least one fully playable mission and bring in characters like huntress and batwomen put into the challenge maps. I agree that joker should stay dead, and the bigger map to do god knows what on, and maybe a batmobile, but it would have to be a batman begins chase seen to thrill me, that meets batman chased by the police, that would also make a good story if he is framed by the police. But this is a lot for one game and you know what they say, always leave them wanting more.
IN the next Batman arkham game it would be Awesome if it could be the whole of Gotham city and we could go into Wayne manor and go into the batcave and suit up. also i would like to be able to decide if i want to roam the streets of Gotham as batman or Bruce Wayne EXAMPLE- if i was Bruce roaming the streets i would not be able to grapple and have gadgets but be able to use some of Bruce’s ordinary vehicles and have side quests only if you are Bruce but if i want to switch to batman i will have to go back to the batcave/Wayne Manor to change to batman and use batmans vehicles in Gotham also we could travel by boat or batmobile or helicopter to get to arkham city or arkham asylum this is what many of us will want in a batman game.
I think the next game should have a big go on Black Mask, Hush and Scarecrow. I also think we should be able to use the Batmobile and be able to play as Nightwing, Robin and Catwoman on side missions. I also think it should be called Arkham Rises, and think Batman will die at the end.
I really hate DC cross overs.. I think the game would be perfect with Catwoman, Robin and Nightwing all with larger roles alongside the bat-vehicles (while driving then of course) which is what would stand out in the third game the most (maybe even a car chase with two-face or something!). As for gang leaders I think Scarface, Blackmask and the Falcones would be great new villains. I’d also love to see Firefly torching buildings within the chaos, and I want to see Killer Moth and Man-bat (Man-bat could be pretty scary in the Rocksteady series and you unlock his bio in Arkham Asylum). This will still be a great game WITHOUT the Joker although I hope we see him in a Scarecrow illusion or a false lead-on like a pre-recorded message he had for his future plans. Harley Quinn could miraculously change/mature since Joker’s death and be as cunning as ever, which would be impressive to see. She could also hire the “Jokerz” gang cause I think they’re really cool for dressing up as unique clowns from their inspiration from Joker and could be her elite henchmen or something. Either way I really hope they don’t screw it up with a prequel or Justice league – -
If the joker is not in part 3 then I will not buy it, Batman without the Joker is nothing.
Whoever wrote this article is a fool. Jokers death was nothing like empire strikes back. If darth vader had died in empire strikes back then maybe it would be the same, but he didn’t because no one would have seen return of the Jeddi if Vader was already dead. Empre Strikes back is a classic middle trilogy because the good guys lost in that movie. If Robin had been kidnapped or something along those lines, like say Talia getting shot and killed (like she did), then we are talking empire strikes back style. But we all know with the lazarus pit no Ghul ever will really die. This is why Ras had no fears about stabbing himself before he hit the ground during the fall scene. He and his daughter will rise like lazarus once more, their army of loyal assassins will make sure off it.
If they leave the joker dead it will be an emensely costly mistake in $$$$

i think the joker should 100% stay dead but i think that if the game were set in all of gotham it would be boring, arkham city did good because it was just a good size and a lot of cool facts for the people that didn’t read the comics but like batman. I also have an idea for a new game. I think we should play as batman beyond and the new arkham asylum would be the moon. I think that would be a great future move for the franchise.
I think hush is a stupid villain and so is black mask. I think they should show the penguin and two face having a meeting on how to get back at the bat and then the riddler comes in but he’s not like he usually is. He is limping, damaged and he is dark, as dark as the joker truly was but never showed, and those three acquire the help from all the other villains to take down the batman.
I agree with alot of these but now it looks like Warner Bros. are going Justice League crazy and hope that a game with the other DC characters and a release date closer to the films will help it sell, but unfortunately Avengers Assemble 2 is coming out in the same year so it’s rather pointless, they should just make an Arkham Sequel not a Silver Age Prequel.
You guys are all thinking way too hard about this sequel! Rocksteady isn’t going to ruin Batman. They will come up with some great ideas to use for the next game. Ofcourse it’s not going to be a prequel because that would be the biggest missed oppurtunity in gaming and DC history. This is what needs to happen for sure:
1. Scarecrow needs to take over as the new main villain! He’s coming back for vengeance against Batman and he’s going to do something crazy. He left behind alot of cliffhangers and easter eggs, more than any other character in AC. He should use his fear toxin on the city of Gotham to create chaos in an attempt to kill Batman, Robin, and Nightwing (maybe even Killer Croc since he’s the one that attacked Crane in the first place). I want to see other major Batman characters controlled by extreme fear (Two Face, Penguin, Ras Al Ghul, and even Superman!). This would add a new level to some of these characters and possibly a different side of them that we have never seen before.
2. Superman would be a great addition to the game. Metropolis is referenced many times in AC as well as Keystone City (which is the Flash’s city) and it would be great to have a battle between Batman and Superman. Imagine if Scarecrow intoxicated Superman with his fear toxin in order to use him against Batman? This would be a phenomenal final battle to conclude the story (if it is done properly). I want Superman to appear multiple times in the story, not as a playable character but maybe Batman might need some help eventually from the Man of Steel. In AC Robin came out of no where to save Batman from Talia’s elite guards so why can’t Superman save him from someone like Two Face or Penguin or Ras Al Ghul (who will all be a bigger threat considering they will be fueled by pure vengeance).
3. Robin, Nightwing, and Catwoman need individual motives, stories, and missions and they all need to be playable in a free roam enviroment! Again, if this is not used in the next game it will be a major mistake and missed oppurtunity! Think of all the DLC material that can be used with these characters? That would be a major money maker for Rocksteady and DC to include these characters.
This is what needs to happen for sure in the next game. I’m pretty confident that these ideas will be included so the rest of the game is up to Rocksteady. I trust that they will not dissapoint us and they will come up with something so creative and amazing for this demanded sequel.
I would love to see Batman/Robin Coop on private LAN. Batman knows he is only a man, and can’t do everything by himself, especially if there is more than just one problem at a time he has to deal with, thereby requiring more than just him. Also the players playing would each have the choice to either play Batman or Robin, and they could choose which part to play. And of course this would be so much easier if the location at which the storyline took place at gotham, his headquarters. With the joker gone, that gives rocksteady to exploit the crimes of other villains.
True, I think there should be a flying elemant in the game…but not with superman. What about man-bat? I would also love to see more of the gangster villains like the great white Shark or more of black mask. Give more screen time to twofsce, killer crock and clayface (because he got pushed into the lazarus pit. It is enviable that scarecrow is making a return because of all the easter eggs. A good storyline could be that they find a way escape arkham city into Gotham. And maybe we can see oracle (batgirl) she recovers with the use of the lazarus pit…my ideas :)

As far as joker is concerned it would be cool to see him dead in the beginning, but what if there was a task that the batman needed him for and the only way to do it is to get him to the lazaras pit, only to find out it was harley quinn behind the whole thing. I agree, having Superman as a boss battle would be bad ass. Who hasn’t had the desire to put the beat down on Big Boy blue? It could be like a Mr. freeze fight, a battle Barman obviously couldn’t fight toe to toe, but has to use traps (kryptonite, magic, red sunlight) to weaken Superman before laying the smack down on his kryptonian ass. It would be exhilarating, they can make it so that if you mess up even once, you’re done! Also, a boss battle between Batman and Deathstroke would be phenomenal.
