Black Ops 2: 20 Reasons To Be Excited

1. Strike Force Missions

If there's one thing that represents innovation for Black Ops 2 it is the new Strike Force missions, which are non-linear side missions in sandbox-style levels that can be tackled alongside the main campaign. According to Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia, they are €œproxy wars in the larger global conflict" that will reflect that the global war is more than just the squirmishes that the player is involved in during the campaign. Though they can be tackled in a non-linear fashion, the Strike Force missions remain a crucial part of the campaign, and the game will not be completed until they are. But they exist to be dropped into more casually, like Arkham City and GTA's sand-box side-missions. There are also a number of ways to approach those missions: first off is the much-vaunted €˜Overwatch Mode€™, which allows the player to leave the traditional FPS gameplay, and take a tactical overview of the mission from on-high, though in a way that remains fitting to the Call of Duty world. But be warned... Dying doesn't give you the chance of an automatic redo. Because these new side-missions will have wider consequences on the rest of the campaign. If you fail a Strike Force mission, it won't be game over - instead failure will have an influence on geopolitical landscape and the overall Cold War, and events will unfold different to how they would if you had succeeded. More power in the players' hands to change the outcome of the game - now that's got to be something to be excited about. http://youtu.be/lJZAqKpZm4E
